Before leaving Ouarzazate for Marrakech, we explore this town known as the ‘Hollywood of Morocco’ due to its numerous film studios. Our visits include the Atlas Studios, the Cinema Museum, and Taourirt Kasbah. On our return journey to Marrakech, we pass through the stunning High Atlas Mountains and charming Berber villages. Your driver will drop you off at your location in Marrakech, concluding our 4 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga.
The early morning of the first day starts when we leave Marrakech and cross the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi N’Tichka (altitude 2260 meters) to arrive at Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. This is an old and fortified village with beautiful Kasbahs, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and perfect synthesis of the earthen architecture of the pre-Saharan regions of Morocco. After lunch in Ait Benhaddou or Ouarzazate, we head to Dades Valley through Ouarzazate, the Palm Grove of Skoura, and Roses Valley. You’ll stop at the Roses Valley, carved by the Assif M’Goun River, where each April and May the valley is flooded with local women picking roses for factories.
After breakfast, we leave Dades Valley and continue to Todra Gorge, known as the favorite canyon for international rock climbers. Our journey takes us south towards the Sahara, seeing beautiful oases, palm groves, stunning landscapes, ancient ruins, and adobe kasbahs. We stop in Erfoud, known as the ‘city of fossils’, once part of an ocean where many fossils and minerals can be found. Our day ends at the sea of sand in the Erg Chebbi dunes where you’ll join camel trekking over the high dunes, enjoy sunset views, and spend the night at desert camp with traditional Berber music under the stars.
We wake you up early to watch the amazing sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast at the desert camp, we depart for Ouarzazate, passing through different areas and various small Berber villages and the arid pre-desertic area with typical Acacia trees. Along the Draa Valley, we’ll make stops to enjoy the beautiful views and landscapes of Morocco’s longest river. Our journey continues towards Ouarzazate, traveling through the Anti-Atlas Mountains, arriving in the evening.
